Yesterday (Jan. 23), the reporter learned from the press conference of "Three Parks Connection" in Chancheng District that the Foshan New Port along Dongping River had become one of the key projects of urban form upgrading in the central city area. This year, the transforming and upgrading project of Foshan New Port and its surrounding areas will be carried out in Chancheng District. The newly renovated and upgraded Foshan New Port Dock will be connected with the Dongping River Fishing Village Cultural Park and Dongping River Shiwan Wetland Park, connecting three parks and forming an ecological corridor of 260,000 square meters. The original buildings and facilities of Foshan New Port will be fully used and become a unique landscape connecting historical memory.

New landscape: three parks connecting as one corridor

Yesterday (Jan. 23), the reporter learned from the press conference that the Foshan New Port along Dongping River had become one of the key projects of urban form upgrading in the central city area. Among them, the Shiwan Wetland Park on the east side of Foshan New Port Dock, originally a mud flat on the north bank of Dongping River with a total area of 108,000 square meters, was completed in 2015. It has now become a popular wetland scenic spot for citizens to enjoy flowers and learn ecological science. The Fishing Village Cultural Park on the west side of Foshan New Port Dock with a total area of about 28,000 square meters, was completed by the end of 2017, creating a characteristic "urban fishing village" leisure landscape park.

According to Foshan City Overall Plan (2011-2020), Foshan New Port Dock, located in the middle of the two parks above, belongs to ecological space and non-construction land, and has been included in the scope of urban park land. Relevant person in charge said that Chancheng District planned to carry out the transforming and upgrading project of Foshan New Port and its surrounding areas in 2019, and is now carrying out conceptual design. This plan will form the trend of "Three Parks Connection" by combining the project achievements of Dongping River Fishing Village Cultural Park and Dongping River Shiwan Wetland Park.

New focus: create special riverside green landscape

At the press conference, officials of the acquisition center in Chancheng District said that the center, as an administrative acquisition department, issued the announcement of the decision on the acquisition of houses on state-owned land for the acquisition project of Foshan New Port Dock on August 17, 2018. Now it is assessing and negotiating the houses and facilities on state-owned land within the scope of acquisition according to legal procedures. On December 26, 2018, Foshan New Port Dock Co., Ltd. and Chancheng District signed the Framework Agreement on Acquisition and Compensation of Foshan New Port Dock. The agreement stipulates that the collection of New Port Dock will be completed in the first half of 2019.

Under the background of adjusting of Foshan New Port Plan, the public sector of Chancheng District is working out the conceptual plan of three parks linking up. The Development Planning and Statistics Bureau of Chancheng District is working out the Conceptual Planning Study on the Activation and Reuse of the Old Industrial Heritage of Foshan New Port and Lanshi Port. With ecological restoration as the main purpose, the project intends to ingeniously transform the old harbor area into a public recreational place and create a unique riverside green landscape.
