On July 8th, special docking meeting themed with biomedicine in the 2019 Guangdong Universities Science and Technology Achievements Transformation Road Show Contest was held in the Sino-European Services Center. As the first activity of the Road Show Contest, 17 teams of university teachers presented the latest biomedical research results and promoted more innovative science and technology achievements to take the lead in landing and industrialization in Foshan.
On the spot, university representatives focused on showing high-end equipment manufacturing and technological achievements on health care such as innovative research achievements and industrialization of “organ factory”, product application development of stem cell-skin regeneration and repair, high-efficiency 3D printing of artificial bone and so on.
“The special docking meeting is a good opportunity for us to receive high-quality resources, and introduce innovative entrepreneurship teams and projects in Foshan,” Lan Qinghua, general manager of Lifeplus-incubator Investment Management Co., Ltd., said. He added that as an emerging industry, biomedicine has a relatively weak foundation in Foshan. By the contest, he hoped to select promising projects for incubation and cultivation to help develop Foshan biomedicine industry.
The activity organized 17 university teacher teams, which has independent intellectual property rights, high science and technology content, great innovation and good business model, such as Jinan University, Guangzhou University, Guangzhou Medical University, Shenzhen University, Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering and so on. In addition to presenting biomedicine projects, those teams also had face-to-face communication with expert judges, accept project guidance, and engaged in one-to-one docking with investment and financing institutions, research and development enterprises, experts and scholars, and park operators so that they could improve the efficiency of achievements transformation and promote cooperation and win-win development between schools and enterprises.
It is known that the contest officially collected projects in June. Within half of a month, 170 projects from universities such as Tsinghua University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Sun Yet-Sen University and South China University of Technology participated the contest. Finally, 75 projects were included in the preliminary contest.
From July 8th, the preliminary contest had been divided intoseveral branches such as intelligent manufacturing, biomedicine, electronic information, new material eco-friendly, and the Growing Group, which would hold constest and dock projects in Foshan towns, streets and industrial park.
In addition to the special docking meeting, the preliminary competition themed with biomedicine will be held in the Sino-European Services Center on July 12. By going through three parts including presentations of projects, expert comment and transformation (venture capital) intention, the contest will adopt a “ 9+6” on-site defense mode and select four to five projects with the most transformation and investment value to enter the finals.
