Foshan released Intellectual Property Report for the first time

　　　On April 26th, the 19th World Intellectual Property (IP) Day, Foshan Municipal Administration for Market Regulation (Intellectual Property Office) issued the “2018 Foshan Intellectual Property Report” for the first time.

　　In 2018, trademark registration nearly doubled in Foshan in 2018

　　In 2018, the total number of trademark applications in Foshan was 98,686 with an increase of 28% over the previous year, and the registered amount was 67,613 with an increase of 90% over the previous year. The number of collective trademarks increased by 143% over the same period last year; the amount of geographical indications certification trademarks increased by 40%; and 83 Madrid international trademarks have been added.

　　Trademark aggregation of Foshan ranked second in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and trademark activeness of Shunde ranked first among Foshan’s five districts. Last year, there was a good trend in the development of trademarks in Foshan. Among five districts, Shunde has the highest trademark activeness and the highest trademark aggregation. As for the development of trademarks in 32 towns and streets, Ronggui, Leliu and Longjiang ranked the top three in terms of the degree of trademark agglomeration. The total number of trademarks owned by per 10,000 market participants are respectively 8784, 7522 and 6851.

　　Two trillion-level industries with strong innovation and creativity

　　In 2018, among the trademark categories with maximum growth in Foshan, there were 8 commodity categories and 2 service categories. With the deepening of supply-side structural reform, the brands of two trillion-level industries, namely pan-household manufacturing industry and machinery and equipment manufacturing industry in Foshan have developed smoothly. In terms of service trademarks, category 35 (business management) and category 43 (catering and accommodation) have the maximum growth, and they are the main force in the development of service industry in Foshan.

　　Quantity and quality progress has been made in Foshan's patent and property rights work

　　In 2018, the total number of patent applications in Foshan was 89,388 with an increase of 20.88% over the same period; the authorized amount was 51,010 with an increase of 38.74%; the PCT was 857 with an increase of 18.04%. As an important indicator of the quality of IP rights, the number of invention patent applications in Foshan was 29,709 in 2018 with a year-on-year increase of 14.71%; the number of invention patents was 5,058 with a year-on-year increase of 3.2%; the number of effective invention patents was 19,497 with a year-on-year increase of 29.55%.

　　Foshan's IP service industry aggregation has achieved new development

　　Firstly, Foshan has cultivated high-level talents. By establishing Guangdong Intellectual Property Innovation Institute, Foshan Intellectual Property Talent Institute, and build an industry-college-research cooperative demonstration base on IP management, Foshan has cultivated more than 10,000 IP talents.

　　Next, Foshan has focused on IP operations services. In 2018, there were more than 80 service companies, and Foshan accomplished the evaluation of IP pledge financing with an evaluation of over 1 billion yuan. The performance was top-rank in Guangdong province.

　　Thirdly, Foshan has also introduced high-end service organizations. At present, Foshan has 75 patent agencies and the number of other intellectual property service agencies is over 200. Among them, there are 15 national IP service brand (nurturing) institutions.

　　Fourthly, Foshan has vigorously build a national development demonstration zone of IP services. Currently, three service industry agglomeration zones covering Chancheng, Nanhai and Shunde with an area of 50,000 square meters have been built.
