Foshan international trade saw highest sustained growth in Guangdong

  According to statistics from Guangdong Customs, in the first seven months of 2021, Foshan has registered a total of 355.1 billion yuan in import and export value, which represents a year-on-year growth rate of 45.6% (compared to 20.5% in Guangdong Province of the same period).

  Among that, the export value reached 292.62 billion yuan, with a growth of 49.9% (compared to 20.8% in Guangdong of the same period); Import value reached 62.48 billion yuan, with a growth 28.5% (compared to 20.1% in Guangdong of the same period). In the first seven months of 2021, Foshan's growth rate of international trade value has continued to rank first in the whole province.


  Trade growth sustained in major markets

  In the first seven months, Foshan's import and export to ASEAN memebers reached 64.42 billion yuan, with a growth rate of 46.6%; Import and export to the US reached 53.52 billion yuan, with a growth rate of 52.5%; Import and export to the EU was 46.51 billion yuan, with a growth rate of 45.3%. All of them accounted to 46.3% of Foshan's total trade value in the same period. In addition, Foshan's import and export value to countries along the "Belt and Road Initiative" and other members of RCEP increased by 46.5% and 36.7% respectively.


  Strong momentum in traditional industries and bright prospects for emerging markets

  In the first seven months of 2021, Foshan has exported 160.29 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, with a growth rate of 42.8%, accounting for 54.8% of Foshan's total export value in the same period. In the same period, the export of labor-intensive products reached 75.26 billion yuan, with a growth rate of 62.4%; the export of high-tech products was 14.02 billion yuan, with a growth rate of 10.9%; and the export of ceramic products reached 13.11 billion yuan, with a growth rate of 53.4%.

  Officials from Foshan Customs said that Foshan will push for more progress in major projects, and further business reforms such as the self-service printing of customs declaration forms, "intelligent audit + self-service printing" of origin visa, as a way to continue optimizing the port business environment and give a strong boost to Foshan foreign trade.
