An Open Letter to all Foshan Residents

Dear friends,

　　On May 26th, a local COVID-19 case was detected in Foshan. The Party Committee and the Government of Foshan have acted with firm resolve to implement the principles of President Xi Jinping’s important remarks and instructions, prioritizing people’s life, health and safety and centering on making emergent response to fight against COVID-19. We have made an comprehensive effort by adopting the firmest, most decisive, and strictest prevention and control measures, relying on the strength of people and racing against time to resolutely curb the spread of COVID-19. Since June 5th, Foshan has reported no new local cases for 10 consecutive days.

　　The COVID-19 outbreak itself is a call to action, while the prevention and control of COVID-19 is an inherent responsibility. Thousands of health workers, Party members, grass-root officials, community workers, public security officers, and volunteers have worked day and night to fight against this disease. People from all walks of life, party members and officials have worked overtime and overcome challenges one after another to guarantee the material supply and the orderly running of the city.

　　All citizens have strictly adhered to the prevention and control measures, taken the mass nucleic acid tests, and obeyed the health monitoring requirement in the closed and controlled areas. They voluntarily and continuously help each other, becoming the reliable strength for the society-wide and coordinated prevention and control of the epidemic. In  this battle, we have better understood the meaning of responsibility and mission and learned about the touching stories of people sacrificing their personal family time in exchange for the greater good of their community. We hereby pay salute to all members involving this battle and extend sincere gratitude to all citizens understanding, supporting and cooperating with the epidemic prevention and control!

　　Right now, we are at a critical stage in our fight against COVID-19. We are still encountering tough challenge, and we must remain vigilant and cautious. We genuinely hope all residents will continue to cooperate with the requirements of COVID-19 prevention and control by going out less, wearing masks, taking vaccines, paying attention to personal hygiene and protection, as well as avoiding gathering, dining together and going out of Foshan or Guangdong unless necessary. We should act proactively on the basis of rationality and science, becoming the continuous strength for combating the epidemic with our love and wisdom.

　　Unity is strength. We will overcome all the challenges as long as we’re able to be united as one. We firmly believe that with the helmsmanship of President Xi Jinping, firm leadership of the Central Party Committee and the State Council, sophisticated arrangements of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, and concerted efforts of millions of residents, we will definitely win this tough battle against COVID-19 and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China with practical actions.
