Contributors to COVID-19 Fight Commended in Foshan

　　December 10, the Foshan's Commendation Meeting for Fighting against the COVID-19 Pandemic was held in the Auditorium of the Foshan Municipal Government Organs to commend Foshan's advanced individuals and collectives highly contributed to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Lu Yi, Secretary of the CPC Foshan Municipal Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Zhu Wei, Mayor of Foshan, presided over the meeting.

　　At 3 p.m, the meeting officially began in earnest. The audience stood up and sang the national anthem.

　　After the national anthem, the audience stood in silence to mourn the martyrs and dead compatriots who died in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

　　Cai Jiahua, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Foshan Municipal Committee and Deputy Mayor of Foshan, announced the "Decision of the CPC Foshan Municipal Committee and the People's Government of Foshan Municipality to Commend Foshan Advanced Individuals and Collectives in Fighting against the COVID-19 Pandemic" and the "Decision to Commend Foshan Outstanding CPC Members and Advanced Grassroots CPC Organizations in Foshan". Foshan municipal leaders presented awards to the commended representatives.

　　The CPC Foshan Municipal Committee and The Foshan Municipal Government decided to award Zhang Zhihui and other 373 comrades the title of "Advanced Individual in Fighting against the COVID-19 Pandemic in Foshan" and Center for Disease Control and Prevention of Chancheng District, Foshan Municipality and other 124 collectives the title of "Advanced Collective in Fighting against the COVID-19 Pandemic in Foshan".

　　On behalf of the CPC Foshan Municipal Committee, the Foshan Municipal Government and the whole city, Lu Yi extended warm congratulations and high respects to the advanced individuals and collectives commended by the country, province and city.

　　Lu Yi pointed out that the virus has come in surprise with fierce pandemic. Under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, and in accordance with the unified deployment of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and the Guangdong Provincial Government, the CPC Foshan Municipal Committee and the Foshan Municipal Government have always worked with the CPC Central Committee in the same spirit and in the same direction to quickly take measures, stand with more than 8 million Foshan people as always, stick to the forefront of the fight against the pandemic, and jointly build the most solid civil defense line.

　　Lu Yi emphasized that great struggles created great spirits, and great spirits guided great victories. Standing at the historical intersection of the Two Centenary Goals, the whole city must unify its thoughts and actions with the CPC Central Committee’s scientific judgments of the current situation, unify with the CPC Central Committee’s major decisions and deployments, and cherish and vigorously promote the great anti-pandemic spirit, coordinate pandemic prevention and control and economic and social development, ensure the successful completion of the goals and tasks of the "13th Five-Year Plan", and lay a solid foundation to start the upcoming "14th Five-Year Plan".
