29 cross-city railways planned in Guangzhou-Foshan boundary

　　In the future, the central axis of the Greater Bay Area will be jointly built by Guangzhou and Foshan in the boundary with 29 cross-city connecting railways.

　　Recently, Guangzhou and Foshan jointly issued the Overall Planning for the Construction of High-quality Development Integration Experimental Zone, which proposed to select areas with great development potentials to jointly build high-development integration experimental zone, including “1 pilot zone and 4 local areas”, and promote the comprehensive connection and deep integration of two cities in various fields, to realize the co-urbanization of Guangzhou and Foshan gradually.

　　Build a growth pole of the innovation and development in the GBA

　　As planned, Guangzhou and Foshan will jointly build the Guangzhou-Foshan High-quality Development Integration Experimental Zone with a total area of 629 square kilometers, including 275 square kilometers in Guangzhou and 354 square kilometers in Foshan.

　　On one hand, the planning for the deeper co-urbanization indicated that Guangzhou and Foshan both realized the necessity of deeper cooperation under the trend of the construction of metropolitan areas. On the other, they have reached a consensus on focusing on high-quality development, and have accumulated considerable cooperation basis, showing their confidence in the realization of “co-urbanization in all fields”.

　　Construct the Guangzhou-Foshan Scientific and Technological Innovation Corridor

　　The structure layout of the overall planning was “one core, one belt, one corridor”. “One core” means building the new core pole of Guangzhou-Foshan high-quality development and integration. “One belt” represents the construction of Guangzhou-Foshan Northern and Southern Ecological Culture Belt. “One corridor” means the Guangzhou-Foshan Scientific and Technological Innovation Corridor integrating into international scientific and technological innovation internet.

　　In terms of element integration, the overall planning clearly pointed out to promote the integration of 6 major elements, which are ecology, transport, industry, urban and rural areas, culture, and society. Among them, the transport integration attracted great attention.

　　The overall planning proposed to improve the integrated level of the public transport system, build the Guangzhou-Foshan railway network of “direct access to center, hub sharing, border integration, and network integration”, plan 29 cross-city connecting railways; construct a multi-level road connection network, plan 60 connecting roads, and create a network system of connecting roads with transit, commuting, leisure activities and other distinct travel functions.
