On the afternoon of August 21st, Shunde District Government and Midea Holding Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Midea Holding”) held a signing ceremony to build Heyou International Hospital, which scheduled to start the construction in March, 2021 and operate in the first half of 2024.

Last year, He Xiangjian, founder of Midea Group, proposed an idea with Midea Holding of building a high-level non-profit hospital located in Shunde and radiating the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, winning great supports from CPC Shunde District Committee and Shunde District Government.

It is reported that Heyou International Hospital will be located in Beijiao New City zone, Shunde. The project in Sanlongwan Innovation Cluster is equipped with a total construction area of about 350,000 square meters and 1,500 planned beds.

At present, after rounds of consultation with experts, the project, which will be constructed in two phases with a total investment of about 10 billion yuan, has confirmed the discipline setting and major design process, and selected 6 international first-class design institutes to participate in the design contest.

Heyou International Hospital plans to design through global bidding and introduce the most advanced medical equipment in the world, including investing 1 billion yuan to build Proton/Heavy Ion Tumour Therapy Center together with an international medical center, a clinical skills training center, an academic communication center and multiple key laboratories.

He Xiangjian, chairman of Midea Holding, said, “The construction of this hospital is not for fame or profit. I hope that we can give back to the society and contribute to the medical and health industry in Shunde, Foshan, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area by building an international high-level non-profit hospital.”

It is worth noting that Heyou International Hospital as a non-profit hospital will put all the revenues from the future operation into the sustainable development of the hospital and the well-being of people, providing high-quality health care services for the introduction of local talents and the development of economic society.
