Guangzhou-Foshan-Dongguan Intercity Line Project launched

　　Intercity Railway Construction Planning of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area proposes to build a traffic circle within 1 hour among major cities of the Greater Bay Area (hereinafter referred to as “GBA”), 2 hours between major cities of the GBA and inner cities in Guangdong, and 3 hours from major cities to neighboring provincial capital cities. It aims to create “GBA on the tracks”, and improve the modern comprehensive transportation system. By 2025, the operation and constructing mileage of GBA’s railway network will reach 4,700 kilometers, comprehensively covering central cities, node cities of GBA and key metropolitan areas such as Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

　　Approved by the National Development and Reform Commission, the recent construction involving 13 intercity railways and 5 hub projects with a total mileage of about 775 kilometers, forms an intercity railway network with strengthened main axis, regional coverage and hub connection. It mentioned that the intercity railway from Foshan to Dongguan via Guangzhou, with a total mileage of 107 kilometers and a total investment of 95.3 billion yuan, will be promoted orderly after the implementation of related construction conditions. The major stations include Foshan New City, Fangcun, Yuzhu and Xintang.

　　According to the line connection scheme of key hub stations, Foshan mainly connects with several major hub stations in Guangzhou, including the recent main connection line of Guangzhou South Railway Station, Foshan-Dongguan intercity lines, and Guangfo Ring Line, transfers with Metro Line 2 and 7, and plans to introduce Metro Line 22. The recent connection line of Yuzhu Station involves intercity railway from Foshan to Dongguan via Guangzhou, which undertakes the function of intercity transportation, while Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport connects with lines including Guangfo Ring Line, transferring railway and airport.
