A Science and Innovation Park was inaugurated in Sanlongwan

On May 26, the opening ceremony of the "Country Garden Plus Returned Overseas Talents Science and Innovation Park" (hereinafter referred to as “Park”) and the signing ceremony of series projects were held in the Nanhai area of Foshan Sanlongwan Innovation Cluster (hereinafter referred to as Sanlongwan). At the meeting, Guangdong International Student Service Center was also inaugurated; two major projects, namely Innovation & Startup Base for high-level returned overseas talents and International Industrial Innovation Base for Guangdong Overseas Returnees were signed.

The Park is located next to Sanlongwan Avenue in Foshan, only 5 kilometers away from Guangzhou South Railway Station. As planned, it will experience the operation mode of "Park + Bases" through government-enterprise cooperation, focusing on docking and serving overseas innovative talents and projects, creating a core area for overseas high-level talents gathering in Guangzhou and Foshan, and helping Nanhai area of Sanlongwan to steadfastly become the first Guangzhou-Foshan based Science and Technology City in the Greater Bay Area.

Target talents and provide offices and customized services

The Park is jointly built by the Nanhai Construction Bureau of Sanlongwan, Innovation & Startup Base for high-level returned overseas talents, Guangdong Overseas Returnees International Industrial Innovation Center, and Country Garden Guangzhou-Foshan Upper Town Project. It is an important attempt of the science and technology development in Sanlongwan jointly promoted by the government and enterprises.

As planned, the Park will come into service by October 2020, with a construction area of 5,000 square meters in the first phase, and 1,500 square meters of shared space will be provided to returned overseas talents, including the returnees club, multi-functional roadshow hall, joint office, and Zhongchuang shared spaces, shared meeting rooms, etc., creating a“friend circle”of high-end talents in Sanlongwan.

Government and enterprises jointly mobilize social resources to accelerate innovation gathering

At present, the Nanhai area of Sanlongwan where the Park is located, is concentrating on the development of modern service industries such as science and technology, cultural and creative industries, Internet and professional services in Hong Kong and Macao. It has attracted Jihua Laboratory, Hong Kong Polytechnic University Guangzhou-Foshan campus, Tsinghua University (Foshan) Institute of New Materials, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Foshan) Science and Technology Achievement Transformation Center, etc.. It is foreseeable that the zone will accelerate the gathering of a group of innovative talents and other resources in the future.

With good location advantages and resources such as industrial carrier platforms in the zone, through the joint construction of government and enterprises, the Park will be built according to the "Park + Bases" model, with a focus on overseas Innovative talent introduction, project incubation and other aspects.

In this collaboration with Country Garden Foshan-Zhaoqing Industry City, Sanlongwan hopes to fully mobilize social resources and accelerate the accumulation of innovative resources. The data shows that so far, Foshan-Zhaoqing City has landed in five major cities in Foshan, and has introduced nearly 300 companies, including 2 listed companies, 25 high-tech companies, 34 companies that are above designated size, 3 work stations, and 4 research institutes. 1541 patents have been granted to enterprises in the Park.

Huang Wenfei, general manager of industry operations of Country Garden Foshan-Zhaoqing Regional Industry City Co., Ltd., said that, taking advantages of Country Garden’s industrial platform in scientific research, capital, market, and talents, Foshan-Zhaoqing Industry City will help the transformation of scientific research achievements of Innovation & Startup Base for high-level returned overseas talents and develop personalized service plan for enterprises to build an innovation and development ecosystem.
