FromApril 1, Foshan Municipal Government provided consumer coupons totalling 100 million yuan, as an attempt to give a boost to the catering industry and other industries after their hard times through the COVID-19 outbreak. In the past few days, four districts covering Chancheng, Nanhai, Shunde and Sanshui followed up and distributed coupons via the Internet.
Citizens restart shopping and eating
With the help of customer coupons, the popularity of the major business districts is growinggradually. For example, the customer flow of NOVA Square has been restored to 60% in the same period last year; the flow of Creative Industry Park has increased by 30% compared with last week; and the customer flow of Uni Park has returned to about 80% before the epidemic.
During meal time, there were long queues in front of many shops including Xibei YoumiancunRestaurant and PanggeliainNOVA Square. "During the epidemic, I only cook at home, and now with the coupons I must eat out." Last Saturday, citizenMr. Chen queued in front of Xibei YoumiancunRestaurant. Yao Chaoqun, store manager of Xibei YoumiancunRestaurant in NOVA Square, said that business has been recovering well under the use of coupons, and that customerflow has recovered to nearly 80% this week.
Eateries consumption accounts for the majority while other industries differ in business
According to a survey conducted by the FoshanSocial Conditions and Public Opinions Center on April 7, more than 90% of the citizens who got the coupons chose todine. For the scenic area that has just reopened, the self-recoveringability seems more urgent. For example, from March 6 to April 30, Tianhu Park offers a 20% discount on the ticket; Changlu Farm offers a 99-yuan annual ticket discount; the ticket price of Snoopy World is as low as 16 yuan before April 30, and citizens are invited to go and play.
Business of the beauty and hairdressing industry differs. Since the distribution of customer coupons, hairdressing chain Amashi’s performance has increased by 500%; while the AisidaiStyle on Lujing 2nd Road has a daily flow of only ten or twenty customers, far from the performance before the epidemic. The store staff told reporters that everyone still concerned about the epidemic;except cutting and dyeing hair, they shampooed at home.
