Foshan Sanglongwan Innovation Cluster achieves high-quality development in half a year

After the Haihua Bridge in the Shunde area of Sanlongwan is completed, it takes only 5 minutes to go from Shunde Chencun to Guangzhou South Railway Station.

　　On 13rd December, at Guangzhou South Railway Station, hundreds of high-speed trains were sent to places across the country since its opening . It’s lately positioned to be the world best ‘super hub for train stations’ with peak arrivals and departures exceeding 500,000 passengers, which is equivalent to transporting a population of a medium-size county every day.

　　On the same day, by the Dongping River, after listing for half a year, the management committee of the Sanlongwan Innovation Cluster is going to announce their satisfying high-quality results for its development.

　　Backed by the super hub of Guangzhou South Railway Station, Foshan has taken the grand blueprint of Sanlongwan development. Together with Guangzhou, it has built the Guangzhou- Foshan High-Quality Integration Experimental Zone, which is at the forefront of building Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

　　First move: 46 key projects have launched

　　What is Sanlongwan Innovation Cluster? Staring from an unknown place even for the locals a year ago, Sanlongwan has now become a buzzword for innovative development thanks to some progressive projects, including the high-class work conference to promote Sanglongwan Innovation Cluster on March 29, the signed “Memorandum of Guangzhou and Foshan Co-building High-Quality Development Integrated Experimental Zone” on May 13, the establishment of the Management Committee on June 5, and the launching of the promotion conference at Sino-German Economics Summit on Dec. 4.

　　Liu Yi, the Deputy Secretary of the Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee of Sino-China Industry Service Zone (Sanlongwan), said that Sanlongwan has unique advantages with its root at the industry sector in Foshan, the priority of protecting local ecosystem, the characteristic cooperation between Guangzhou and Foshan, an international platform of the Sino-German Industry Service Zone. The future of Sanlongwan should be focusing on 'high-end innovation’.

　　To focus on high-end development , top-level design is paramount.

　　By the end of this year, there will be 8 planning projects being launched in fields of overall planning, transportation, ecological space, water supply etc. Sanlongwan project plans to invest 351.1 billion RMB on the 101 key projects. Some of the first-phase on-going projects such as the improvement project of Sanlongwan Avenue with connected roads, Sanlongwan Greenway, Tanzhou Waterway Night Cruise, Sanlongwan International Innovation Center, 5G Network Facility, Foshan Shunde Robotics Valley, etc. have made steady progress over the year.

　　To focus on innovation, talent resource provides the cradle.

　　The 130 sq.km. of Sanlongwan has gathered a batch of key technology research and development platforms. In the past half year, Sanlongwan has been in the spotlight for increasing number of the talents and technology projects. So far there have been 30 industry projects and 13 technology platforms under negotiations.

　　Second move: deploy 5 technological platforms along railways

　　Starting with Gangkou Road, extending north to south, the ‘ Foshan Technology and Innovation Axis’ aims to form an industry belt relying on the village-level industry parks along Sanlongwan Avenue from east to west covering a total land of 400 hectares.

　　Sanlongwan will focus on the strategic emerging technologies and industries, integrating its existing higher education institutions and technological platforms. It will also introduce high-standard institutions from the areas of life science and intelligent manufacturing to construct five technology platforms.

　　The five major technology platforms are a technology R&D and financial platform in the north of Sanshan New City, a robot technology innovation platform in the southeast of Beijiao Town, an education R&D platform around Guangzhou South Railway Station, an international cooperation innovation platform in the International Cooperation Demonstration Zone of Sino-German Intelligent Manufacturing, and a biomedical testing platform in Lecong Town.

　　Third move: Guangzhou-Foshan hold hands to create a new pattern of integrated development

　　According to the plan, in the future, Sanlongwan will have 3 inter-city tracks, 2 subway lines, and 1 tram directly to Guangzhou South Railway Station.

　　Therefore, through Sanlongwan, Foshan will be closer to Guangzhou, which will amplify the synergy of Guangzhou-Foshan cross-area development under the backdrop of Guangdong- Hong Kong- Macao Greater Bay Area. Currently projects under construction include Foshan Metro Line 2, Guangzhou-Foshan Intercity Roads, Panyu-Zhuhai Bridge, Haihua Bridge.

　　In fact, in the future, the results of Guangzhou-Foshan "Four In One" planning in city functions, ecological system, transportation system, and industrial layout will be reflected in Sanlongwan.

　　In the future, Foshan will collaborate with Guangzhou to build four trillion-level industry clusters and advanced equipment manufacturing industry is one of them. Liu Yi said that Sanlongwan will continue to actively connect with various enterprises, industry associations and scientific research institutes, and promote high-end talents, core technologies and major scientific and technological infrastructures to gather in Sanlongwan. Under the historical opportunity of the Guangdong- Hong Kong -Macao Greater Bay Area, Sanlong Bay is about to write the main chapter in the implementation of the Guangzhou-Foshan Pole Strategy.
